Cora discovered her niche at the intersection of public health and women’s and gender studies (she’s majoring in both). A defining moment, she says, was studying public health in Italy for a month. “I’d never even been on an airplane before. Now, I’m doing advanced research in women’s health and can’t wait to start a career that will take me around the world.”

Athlete &
Entrepreneur

Most students have a lot of balls in the air, but Eli Dent has given that new meaning. Enthusiasm has kept this soccer player on the go, and his product – a small rubber disc with colorful feathers – on the shelves of 50 retailers. Whether he’s rushing between classes to complete shipments or to concept a new app, this award-winning entrepreneur is as passionate about soccer as he is business.

Chemist &
Counselor

We would all be so lucky to have a doctor who appreciates test tubes and chemistry labs as much as a good history class and art exhibit. Add to that a knack for nurturing, honed while counseling nervous freshmen on how to live, and even become best friends with, roommates for the first time. Meet Jabbarrius Ervin, a Rene Ravenel Scholar primed to be the next great surgeon.

Wish-Granter

Not all genies come in a bottle. Jessica McGorty has learned that whether granting a wish through her sorority’s philanthropy project or learning to heal people through exercise science, her head and her heart are focused on helping others. Her focus on fitness and strength in writing have led to a research manuscript on concussions – and a house full of fit sisters as well!
